Cowboy Hunters: A Refreshing Irreverence

The duo’s new EP ‘EPEEPEE’ arrives with a playful, unpretentious energy, recently earning them a support slot for Sleaford Mods.

Some bands build a mythology with solemnity. Cowboy Hunters, the Dublin duo of Megan Pollock and Desmond Johnston, construct theirs with a wink. Their new EP is pointedly titled ‘EPEEPEE’, a gesture that frames their entire approach: music delivered with a refreshing lack of pretension.

This irreverence, however, is not a lack of intent. Their sound carries a sharp, post-punk informed energy, a quality that recently secured them a support slot for Sleaford Mods in Ireland and caught the attention of Franz Ferdinand’s Alex Kapranos. The work is serious in its craft but deliberately light on its feet, rejecting the weight of over-analysis in favor of immediate, playful impact.

‘EPEEPEE’ presents a band confident in their own casual cool, proving that not taking yourself too seriously can be a potent artistic stance in itself.
