Dominic Fike’s Third Album ‘How To Quit Smoking’ Will Be Built on Tour

Dominic Fike has set a release date for his third album, How To Quit Smoking: October 9 via Columbia Records. The lead single, “Wallflower,” is out now, with a video shot in Asheville, North Carolina and released from Charlottesville, Virginia. The locations are not incidental. Fike is recording the album while on tour, during the North American run of his Comedy Tragedy Parody shows, and the material is being written, performed, and produced in real time on the road.

The label describes the project as a living, constantly evolving body of work. Updates are being posted through an album-specific Instagram account as the songs take shape. No tracklist has been shared yet, but the pre-order lists 15 tracks. That unfinished quality is part of the premise: How To Quit Smoking is being assembled outside a traditional studio timeline, with the tour itself serving as the recording environment.

The album follows 2023’s Sunburn. It also arrives after a notable back-catalogue surge: “Babydoll,” originally released in 2018, has passed two billion streams and returned to the Billboard Hot 100 eight years after its release. That context makes the new album’s open-ended process less a gimmick than a response to the ways Fike’s music has already moved beyond standard release cycles.
