Murex Details Debut Album ‘Inventio’, Shares New Single

The Swedish producer’s first full-length lands September 25 via Young, anchored by a process of bodily re-rooting.

Murex has set September 25 as the release date for her debut album, Inventio, on London label Young. The Swedish artist, who works alone in the studio, first appeared earlier this year with the single “Massacre” and followed it with “Hardness Of A Silverspoon,” a track built around brass arrangements.

The album was constructed over three years. Murex describes it as a deliberate act of grounding. “Making this album felt like a return to my physical body,” she says, “while simultaneously realising that it will never encompass the totality of who I am. Each moment of finding is getting lost, and while my body stores the marks, the different versions of myself continue to evade and dissolve.”

Ten tracks long, Inventio includes both earlier singles and the new one, “Flock Of Swans Fly In V’s,” which leads the project. The music stays close to a solitary, self-contained logic—no featured guests, no co-writers, a single voice shaping the work from start to finish.
