The trial of rapper Pooh Shiesty on charges of kidnapping Gucci Mane has been delayed until February 2027. Shiesty remains in custody while several co-defendants, including his father, are out on bail.
The trial of Pooh Shiesty, accused of kidnapping Gucci Mane and two other music industry figures at gunpoint, has been postponed to February 22, 2027. It was originally scheduled to begin this July.
Prosecutors say that in January, Shiesty and eight co-defendants entered a Dallas studio and refused to let Gucci Mane, whose real name is Radric Davis, and two executives leave unless Davis signed a contract releasing Shiesty from his 1017 Records deal. The group also allegedly stole jewelry, watches, and cash.
Several defendants, including Shiesty’s father Rodney “Big30” Wright Jr., have been released on bail. Shiesty remains in custody after a judge denied his request. The denial was based partly on FBI testimony that included social media posts appearing to show the stolen items, and on the fact that Shiesty was supposed to be on house arrest at the time. He had been released from prison last October after serving time for shooting a man in the buttocks — a case that also relied on social media evidence.
The 2027 trial date pushes any resolution years past the incident, leaving the broader 1017 Records dispute unresolved in the courts.
