Prime Video Sets Blade Runner 2099 for November 2026, First Trailer Arrives

The next expansion of the Blade Runner universe has a date. Prime Video will premiere Blade Runner 2099 on November 25, 2026, and a first trailer now sketches the series’ tone: a city rebuilt without human hands, populated by fugitives and replicants with nothing left to lose.

The story follows Cora (Hunter Schafer), a woman who has spent years running and finally assumes the identity of a blade runner. She is paired with Olwen (Michelle Yeoh), a replicant facing her final days. Their target is a fugitive hiding information that could destabilize the fragile new Los Angeles. The premise borrows the noir bones of the original films — the hunted becoming the hunter — but shifts the setting to a place that no longer belongs to people.

Showrunner Silka Luisa (Halo) leads the series, which also stars Dimitri Abold and Lewis Gribben. Casting Schafer and Yeoh as uneasy partners suggests the series will lean on the human-replicant tension that has anchored the franchise since 1982, albeit in a world where the line between the two has been blurred further.

The franchise has always worked best when it treats its worlds as inevitabilities rather than spectacles. On this evidence, 2099 looks more committed to that fatalistic imagination than to nostalgic callbacks — a choice that could separate it from other late sequels.
