Rosalía Performs “Reliquia” En Pointe in Her Third SNL Appearance

Rosalía returned to Saturday Night Live with two songs from Lux, dancing the first entirely on pointe — a technical claim as much as a performance.

Rosalía’s third appearance as Saturday Night Live’s musical guest, in an episode hosted by Shane Gillis, drew on two songs from Lux, the 2025 album that states most plainly where her flamenco training and her pop instincts meet. “Reliquia,” the first of them, she performed entirely en pointe.

The choice carries more weight than the image alone suggests. Pointe work demands years of conditioning and leaves no room for the loose, crowd-pleasing movement that televised pop performance usually rewards. Rosalía built her career on the opposite premise, treating physical discipline as substance rather than ornament, and Lux is where that argument is made most directly.

She followed it with “Magnolias,” and turned up in a sketch as a thought bubble tempting Gillis to leave his dying mother’s bedside for a Jelly Roll concert at the Sphere. In a pre-show promo, Kenan Thompson pitched her on an album blending pop and classical music in 14 languages. She told him that was Lux, and that she had already made it.

Her first invitation to the show came as Bad Bunny’s guest in 2021; her solo debut followed in 2022 behind Motomami. Turnstile and Katseye preceded her this season. Gracie Abrams performs on the October 31 episode, hosted by Inde Navarrette.
