Shaboozey to Release ‘The Outlaw Cherie Lee & Other Western Tales’ on July 31

Shaboozey has shared the details for his next album, The Outlaw Cherie Lee & Other Western Tales, arriving July 31. The tracklist and a notably wide-ranging list of guests were posted to social media on Tuesday.

The album’s cinematic intent is made explicit by the inclusion of Sam Elliott, the actor whose drawl and gruff presence have defined cowboy roles in films like Tombstone and The Big Lebowski. Jamie Foxx and Teyana Taylor—both with parallel music careers—also appear. On the purely musical side, contributors include Gunna, Kehlani, Leon Bridges, and Orville Peck. Which guests land on which songs remains unspecified.

Shaboozey has spoken about the project as a fusion of film and music influences. “It was always my dream to put all the things I love about movies and music and stories into one cohesive body of work,” he told Rolling Stone’s Nashville Now podcast in May, citing Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill and Jackie Brown as inspirations for the album’s strong female protagonist theme.

The 15-track record follows Shaboozey’s breakout with “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” and arrives as country-rap continues to stretch its boundaries. Rather than a collection of singles, the project is framed as a narrative—Elliott’s presence alone signals that ambition.
