The longtime horror punk guitarist steps into a fresh project with a Canadian vocalist. Details remain thin but the name is out.
Piggy D. has a new band. The guitarist, whose real name is Matt Montgomery and whose career stretches across years of work in the horror punk and metal underground, is now fronting a project called Gabi & The Fly. He’s joined by Canadian vocalist Gabriella Lindland. That’s the core of it.
No recordings have surfaced yet. No label has been announced. The news came via Metal Injection with almost no extra detail beyond the name and the collaboration. For an artist whose past credits include stints with Wednesday 13 and a long run in that whole grim, theatrical corner of heavy music, a move like this reads less like a side project and more like a quiet reset.
Lindland’s presence shifts the equation. Her voice is the unknown quantity here, and whatever shape Gabi & The Fly takes will depend heavily on that pairing. Piggy D. has rarely been the central figure in his previous work. Now he’s stepping out under a band name that puts someone else upfront. That choice alone says something about the dynamic he’s after.
What comes next is anyone’s guess, but for now the story is simply that this exists. Two people, a name, and the intent to make something new. Sometimes that’s enough to warrant attention.
