Produced by Whitearmor and featuring Current 93, the new Drain Gang LP lands May 20 alongside the lead single “Blondie.”
Swedish artist Bladee has confirmed the details of his next full-length. Sulfur Surfer will be released on 20 May through Trash Island, the label he co-founded. The album was produced entirely by Whitearmor, the longtime Drain Gang collaborator who’s shaped much of the collective’s sound. It also includes a contribution from the experimental English group Current 93.
The lead single, “Blondie,” arrived with a music video earlier this week. It’s the first material to surface from the record, which follows 2024’s COLD VISIONS. Whitearmor’s production carries the blown-out, digital melancholy that’s defined Bladee’s work for years, though the Current 93 feature points toward something more esoteric.
This summer, Bladee will play a short run of festival dates with Yung Lean, another Stockholm native and frequent collaborator. The confirmed stops include Lyrical Lemonade Summer Smash in Chicago on 13 June, Roskilde Festival in Denmark on 3 July, and a Boiler Room show in London on 1 August.
Bladee first drew attention in 2013 with a style that blurred rap, pop, and ambient music into something hard to classify. Together with Thaiboy Digital, Ecco2k, and Whitearmor, he helped build the Drain Gang universe, an online-rooted, emotionally raw aesthetic that’s stayed quietly influential across a scattered underground. No further US dates have been announced beyond Chicago.
