Duffy Confirms First Live Performance in Over a Decade

The Welsh singer behind “Mercy” will play an intimate London show this July, her first since retreating from public life following a violent assault.

Duffy will play her first live show in nearly 15 years on July 5 in London. The announcement came via Instagram Stories, where she described the event as a “secret intimate gig” at an as-yet-undisclosed venue. It is the latest and most tangible step in a gradual re-emergence that has proceeded quietly since 2020, when the singer publicly detailed a prolonged period of abduction and assault.

Duffy’s withdrawal from the music industry had been total. After the 2010 album Endless, which followed the 9 million-selling Rockferry and its omnipresent single “Mercy,” she simply vanished. In 2020, she released two songs, “River in the Sky” and “Something Beautiful,” while explaining in written statements that she had been drugged, raped, and held captive for six weeks. The disclosure reframed a decade of silence that many had attributed to typical industry burnout.

This summer’s performance coincides with news of a forthcoming documentary feature for Disney+ and Hulu, which will include extensive interviews with Duffy and archival material. No title or release date has been set for the film. The London show represents something rarer: a live return on her own terms, without a record to push or a narrative she has not already controlled.
