Sam Smith Announces ‘Hazel Eyes’ for August 21, Shares Lead Single

The New York–recorded fifth album, featuring Feist and Shahzad Ismaily, trades introspection for requited love.

Sam Smith’s fifth album, ‘Hazel Eyes’, will be released on 21 August via Capitol Records. Recorded at Electric Lady Studios in New York, the project marks a turn away from the emotional terrain of 2023’s ‘Gloria’ toward songs rooted in requited love and self-acceptance.

Smith produced the 12-track record themselves, working alongside contributors that include Feist — who appears on “Moondance” — and multi-instrumentalist Shahzad Ismaily. The sessions, Smith said, deepened their relationship
