Faith No More End Decade of Silence with System of a Down Tour

Faith No More have announced their first live shows since August 2016, booking four co-headlining dates with System of a Down in Australia and New Zealand for early 2027. The concerts end a decade-long absence for the band, whose planned 2020 and 2021 returns were scrapped first by the pandemic, then by frontman Mike Patton’s mental health struggles.

Bassist Bill Gould confirmed the reunion earlier this year on the Rock Talk podcast. “Yeah, we’re gonna do it. We’re gonna play,” he said. The group now moves from intention to itinerary, starting at Sydney’s Accor Stadium on January 22, then moving through Melbourne, Brisbane, and Wellington.

Faith No More’s last performance was a headlining set at the 2016 edition of the Rock in Rio festival. Since then, the band members had remained mostly quiet about a reunion until Gould’s podcast comments. System of a Down, who will share the bill on all four dates, have been sporadically active in recent years but have not released a full studio album since 2005.

The tour opens a window onto what a rejuvenated Faith No More might look like, though the band has not mentioned new music. For now, the dates alone mark a significant step after years of stop-start plans and personal setbacks.
