Ariana Grande’s Seventh No. 1 Puts Her Next to Lady Gaga and Janet Jackson

Ariana Grande’s new album, petal, enters the Billboard 200 at No. 1 with 295,000 equivalent album units earned in the U.S. during the tracking week ending August 6. It’s her seventh chart-topper—and her strongest week by units in the 2020s.

The figure puts Grande in a tie with Lady Gaga and Janet Jackson for the fifth-most No. 1 albums among solo women since the chart began in 1956, trailing only Taylor Swift, Barbra Streisand, Madonna, and Beyoncé. Album sales drove the week, with 168,000 copies sold—her second-largest sales frame ever, just shy of My Everything’s 2014 peak of 169,000. Streaming contributed 126,000 units, from 128.83 million on-demand streams.

Physical formats powered the launch. Vinyl alone moved 96,000 copies, Grande’s best vinyl week and the fifth-largest of 2026. The rollout included over ten digital and streaming variants (several with bonus material), ten vinyl editions including a signed option, five CDs, and two cassettes.

Grande is currently on The Eternal Sunshine Tour, which runs through September. Behind her on the chart, six former No. 1s fill spots two through seven, with Morgan Wallen’s I’m the Problem slipping to No. 2 with 75,000 units and Olivia Rodrigo’s you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love at No. 3 with 74,000.
