Courtney Love’s New Solo Album Is Finished, Made During a Near-Fatal Illness

In an Instagram video, the Hole frontwoman confirmed the record is complete and described the prolonged hospital stay that nearly killed her. The album, which would follow 2004’s *America’s Sweetheart*, has no release date yet.

Courtney Love has confirmed that her long-awaited new solo album is finished, and that she nearly didn’t survive to release it. In an Instagram video posted Friday evening, the Hole frontwoman said the record is “done,” adding that she made it believing it might be her last. “When I made it, I believed this was my last record so I made the record I always wanted to make,” she wrote. “I was in the hospital mostly but when I wasn’t, all I did was write & record it.”

Love revealed that her body “exploded” after a trip to England in 2019. She was hospitalized repeatedly, lost her hair, and dropped to around 100 pounds. Doctors told her she was going to die.
