Space Afrika Team With Alto Aria on New Single ‘From the Heart of Knowing’

Space Afrika have released “From the Heart of Knowing,” a new single made with Alto Aria. The track arrives as the clearest signal yet of the collaborative direction behind the duo’s next album, Quiet Storm.

Joshua Tarelle Reid and Joshua Inyang, who work between Manchester and Berlin, have described the project as their most communal to date. “It’s a collaborative record because there is always strength and love in collaboration,” Inyang said. “But with that, we were able to focus more strongly on our personal identity.”

The song itself moves away from the harder club edges the duo have explored before. It is built around a murmured arrangement: breathy woodwind and plucked strings sit against a crystalline vocal, pulling closer to modern classical than to the dub and electronic patterns that mark their earlier material.

The track is taken from Quiet Storm, the incoming album the duo have described as their most collaborative to date. “From the Heart of Knowing” is out now.
