The rapper has delayed his June show in France following reports the interior minister is seeking to ban the performance over his past antisemitic remarks.
Kanye West has postponed a scheduled concert in Marseille, France. The announcement follows reports that the country’s interior minister is actively seeking to block the performance.
West, who now goes by Ye, stated the decision was his alone. He posted the postponement notice for the June 11 show at the Velodrome stadium on social media.
The move comes after a source close to Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez told Agence France-Presse the official was “highly determined” to ban the event. The government is reportedly exploring all legal avenues to prevent it, citing the artist’s history of antisemitic comments.
This situation places the concert at the intersection of artistic programming, public order, and political will. The postponement avoids an immediate legal confrontation, but leaves the future of the event uncertain.
