TroyBoi and Daya Release ‘HUSH’

A trap-pop single that sidesteps the flattening effect of many hybrid collaborations, letting both artists operate at full strength.

TroyBoi and Daya have released a new single, “HUSH.” The track brings together the producer’s cinematic low-end and Daya’s clear vocal delivery without forcing either into an unnatural middle ground.

The production operates on restraint. TroyBoi builds the track around a slow-burn trap pulse, layered with textured synths and shadowy melodies. The drums hit hard but never overwhelm the atmosphere. Daya’s voice cuts through with direct emotion, lending warmth that gives the song weight beyond a standard club collaboration.

TroyBoi has spent a decade constructing a sound that refuses easy genre tags. Drawing on Indian, Chinese, Portuguese, and Nigerian heritage, his catalog moves between trap, bass, hip-hop, and experimental electronic music. Projects like Left Is Right and the ROOTZ EP have combined club energy with a careful production touch. Daya arrives at “HUSH” after a shift of her own. Her early pop breakthrough with “Hide Away” and the Grammy-winning “Don’t Let Me Down” with The Chainsmokers has given way to more introspective territory. Last year’s “Dreamin” with Dom Dolla and her album In Between Dreams pointed toward darker textures and more nuanced songwriting. That trajectory makes the vocal performance here feel like a continuation, not a pivot.

The collaboration works because it doesn’t bargain away either artist’s identity. TroyBoi supplies a framework that is polished but unpredictable, and Daya’s presence remains intimate while holding enough scale for festival systems. The track is designed for late-night headphones and large rooms alike. An official music video is expected soon.

At a moment when cross-genre singles often sand down distinct edges for perceived reach, “HUSH” keeps its character. It’s a quiet, confident record that doesn’t need to announce itself loudly to make an impression.
