The elusive duo will release their first new album in over a decade on Warp Records this spring, following a cryptic campaign of VHS tapes and social media clues.
Boards of Canada have announced their new album, ‘Inferno’, for release on May 29th through Warp Records. This confirms the widespread speculation triggered by their recent, enigmatic activity.
The duo, Michael Sandison and Marcus Eoin, initiated the campaign by sending VHS cassettes containing new music and imagery to a select group of fans. They subsequently refreshed their social media channels, posting a clip called ‘Tape 05’. The album’s tracklist, which runs to 18 songs, features titles like ‘Age of Capricorn’ and ‘The Process’, continuing the group’s longstanding engagement with esoteric themes and systems.
‘Inferno’ will be the first full length Boards of Canada album since 2013’s ‘Tomorrow’s Harvest’. The announcement ends an extended period of silence from one of electronic music’s most revered and secretive acts.
