Charli XCX Releases “SS26”

The British artist returns with a satirical rock track that pairs runway imagery with end-of-the-world commentary.

Charli XCX released a new song, “SS26,” this week. The title shortens the lyric “Spring summer 2026,” and the track applies a rock-forward sound to a sardonic look at fashion, image, politics, and apocalypse. Over a subdued, moody bass line, she sings: “Spring Summer 26 / When the world is gonna end no hope for any of it / Yeah we’re walking on a runway that goes straight to hell / Nothing’s gonna save us, not music, fashion, or film.”

The song follows “Rock Music” and the vinyl-exclusive B-side “I Keep Thinking Bout You Every Single Day and Night,” marking the third offering from an upcoming album she first teased in an interview with British Vogue earlier this year. The run continues a shift toward heavier, guitar-led arrangements, with “SS26” leaning into a deadpan, almost spoken delivery that lands somewhere between critique and shrug.

Charli XCX is set to headline several major festivals this summer, including Lollapalooza, Outside Lands, and Austin City Limits.
